The town was incorporated as Kure Beach in honor of Han Kure in 1947 and continues to be a popular vacation destination. While the town is less than one square mile in size, it is surrounded by exciting services, amenities, and attractions. The Cape Fear River is its western border, the Atlantic Ocean is its eastern border, directly to the south is the tip of Pleasure Island, known as Federal Point, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area and Historic Site, and its northern border is the town of Carolina Beach. This means opportunities for boating, kayaking, swimming, surfing, and enjoying the seemingly endless sun and sand are abundant for those owning Kure Beach real estate.
